First off, I just wanted to say a big thank-you to all my followers and fellow bloggers. I know I have not been commenting or replying to comments as much this past week, and I apologize for that. Life has been crazy, and it’s been hard enough just to write and post these poems. However, please know that I read every word you blog or write to me in the comments, and I treasure them all. Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and inspiration. You guys are awesome.
Second, this poem was inspired by a quote by Dietrich Bonhoeffer:
Death is hell and night and cold, if it is not transformed by our faith. But that is just what is so marvelous, that we can transform death.
April 15, 2015 ~ My Reason (Transforming Death)
You ask my why I believe,
A reason for my faith.
A thousand answers spring to mind,
But I select this one,
One jewel from my gleaming horde,
As my reply to you:
~
I choose Jesus because
He transforms death.
I choose Jesus because
He conquered death.
I choose Jesus because
He tore the fear from death.
I choose Jesus because
He turned death into the gateway to paradise.
I choose Jesus because
He took Satan’s greatest victory—
death—
and transformed it into His greatest blessing—
eternal life.
~
Do you fear death?
Does it haunt your sleepless nights?
Does your courage shatter at the whisper of,
“Death comes to us all”?
I do not fear,
I sleep at night,
My courage stands strong,
Even in the face of death,
Because of Jesus.
~
Does any other god transform death?
Does any other god tear away the fear of it
and turn it into such a glorious blessing?
Does any other god offer you such a sure promise,
Today you will be with me in paradise?
Only Jesus.
That, my friend, is why I believe.
