{Fireside Fridays} I Read Because / Because I Read

{I read because … }

I have wanderlust

I need to be reminded who I am and why I am here and what I need to do

Stories impact me more deeply than lectures

Inspiration is my oxygen, and books inspire me

I need to be reminded that I am not alone

I have an insatiable desire to know

I want to live a thousand lives

I need to be reminded that other people have it far worse

I want to see the big picture, how all the chapters meld into a single story

I want to savor the details, the little moments that matter

I want to love and laugh and cry and question and understand

I want to see more truth

The more stories I read, the richer my life becomes

I want to wonder

{Because I read … }

I can feel other people’s emotions, step into their shoes, empathize

I know that conflict that always precedes resolution

I can recognize the magic in life

I have a thousand examples to follow, be inspired by, learn from

I believe in redemption and heroes and happy endings

I know how to handle enemies and failure and obstacles

I never stop learning

I have a treasure trove of words to guide me and inspire me

I have met hundreds of friends, visited hundreds of worlds

I know that the dragons can be defeated

I learn more and more about myself, about others, about God, about the world

Why do you read? / What results from your reading?

  1. this is so stunningly beautiful! SO many reasons and results, but one of the reasons I read is because I need to see the story and the world beyond myself. ❤

  3. I read because I love stories, because I love living other lives and walking other worlds, because stories remind me of all the wonder in this world and of the promise that there are great things in live no matter who you are or where you live.
    Because I read, I know dozens of random little facts, I have a hundred people and adventures and lives stored away in my head, I have a sense of the dramatic, and I know that at the point when all seems darkest . . . that’s when help’s about to come.
