A Glimpse of Starlight

Wrote this one in October. Can’t wait to write more stuff like it in May. 

I shudder

In the face of this universe

Where the light that witnesses my midnight monsters

Is ages old

Like a thousand ancient eyes

Watching yet another life

Set foot on the globe, spin off, gone

Yet burn brighter

Than any celestial flame

~

I shudder

In the face of this universe

Where the light that falls like eternal rain

Is not eternal

But the youngest sigh in the symphony of life

Played by the God of the fires of night

~

I shudder

In the face of this universe

With the light birthed ages ago

And the God from beyond those ages still—

Shudder in awe, oh my soul
