The Sand Sings a Story

Dear me, it’s been a while since I posted a poem. I wrote this one in December—it seems to be a trend of mine that I write ocean-themed songs in the winter. Perhaps there’s some deep significance to that fact, but I’ll save that pondering for a rainy day. For now, enjoy!

The sand sings a story

Of a hard, huge rock

Looming ugly on the mountain where

Gems glittered.

The sand sings a story

Of the howling, hammering wind

Tossing the rock in fury over the cliff to

Sea below.

The sand sings a story

Of the rough, roaring waves

Hissing over it, tearing it apart, as

Days dragged on.

~

The sand sings a story

Of a dream

Of a hope

Of a journey

Of a pain

Of a fear

Of a waiting

Of a longing, lonely rock

Caressed by harsh hands of wind and water until

A new gem glitters.
