I was reading C. S. Lewis’ Weight of Glory again and rediscovered this quote:
I read in a periodical the other day that the fundamental thing is how we think of God. By God Himself, it is not! How God thinks of us is not only more important, but infinitely more important. Indeed, how we think of Him is of no importance except insofar as it is related to how He thinks of us.
Sounds a little … crazy, right? But it begs the question: What does God think of us?
The Lord your God is with you, he is might to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
~ Zephaniah 3:17
He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.
~ Psalm 18:19
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”
~ Jeremiah 31:3
Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you.
~ Isaiah 43:3-5
And that’s just the start. The only way you can love God and others is by first realizing the depth of His own love for you. So go out this week and cling to the truth of who you are in Christ.
The lies are loud,
And the truth is a still, small voice—
Listen deeper.
