{Miscellaneous Mondays} Dream For You

There’s this Casting Crowns song that seems so perfect for this time of year, with vacation plans, seniors graduating, and thoughts of college, jobs, and the future buzzing through the air:

So come on, let Me dream, let Me dream for you
I am strong when youre weak and Ill carry you
So let go of your plan, be caught by My hand
Ill show you what I can do
When I dream for you
I have a dream for you

I’m stronger than you think I am
I’ll take you farther than you think you can
You sing and call me Great I Am
So take your stand
My child, if you only knew
All the plans that I have for you
Just trust me, I will follow through
You can follow Me

The future. It seems as if that’s all we can think about these days. What are you going to do this summer—next fall—next year? What are you going to do with your life? What are your plans? It’s overwhelming and even scary, this pressure that you have to have your whole life mapped out.

But honestly, if we really believed that God is working everything out for our good,  that we can trust Him with our lives, that He’ll do a far better job with them than we can, wouldn’t that take away so much of the fear of the future? Instead of letting worry about what will happen sap our strength and joy, shouldn’t we just surrender our lives, plans, dreams, desires to the One from whom comes every good and perfect thing?

It reminds me of this wonderful C. S. Lewis quote: “All that is made seems planless to the darkened mind, because there are more plans than it looked for.”

More plans that it looked for. When life feels like chaos, when nothing’s working out like you’d expected, when you have no idea what step to take next, just open your eyes. There are so many reasons for why things happen, so many ways God is weaving your life. We are far too narrow-minded in the way we look at things.

So, you have no plan? God has plans after plans after plans, and He’s going to use each one in your life to accomplish something beautiful. So, you have too many dreams? God has even more for your life, and He can handle them all.

  1. Mm, thank you for this, Litsa. Someone just asked me today about my plans for college, major, career, and life, and I’m thankful I was able to read this afterwards.

Mhm, beautiful reminder. ❤ It's so amazing how God has something so much more grander than anything I could ever dream of. I mean, my dreams for the future are so far-fetched and big, and I know that they probably aren't what God has in mind, and I'm left to wonder what thing more amazing He's going to do, because I can't imagine anything bigger.
And that was a weird ranting. xD

I think Tanith could benefit from this post. Things are difficult for her at this time.
