Inspired by a scene in John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress. I don’t feel like it’s my best quality-wise, but I like the message. If you have any ideas on how to improve it, fire away.
April 30, 2015 ~ The Lions are Chained
The path of moonlight beckons bright,
And the house of rest is right there,
Just a few steps away.
You yearn to walk towards the light,
But you halt, trembling, wouldn’t dare:
Lions bar the way.
They face you with glaring eyes,
Sharp claws ready to tear your soul,
Your well of courage drained.
With disappointment your heart cries,
But listen, there is reason to be bold:
The lions are chained.
So be brave, be brave, my friend,
Because those lions can’t touch you,
Despite how they strain.
Oh, don’t fear, don’t fear, my friend,
Don’t let the lies strangle the truth:
The lions are chained.
