NaPoWriMo 2015 ~ Extravagant Grace

April 21, 2015 ~ Extravagant Grace

You didn’t have to make the sky blue

And the sun gold

And the grass green

And the flowers vibrant—

but You did.

You didn’t have to make the stars shine

And the birds sing

And the sun rise

And the kittens purr—

but You did.

You didn’t have to make the leaves change color

And the flowers smell sweet

And the waves pound soothingly

And the moss grow soft—

but You did.

You didn’t have to give us music

Or poetry

Or paintings

Or laughter—

but You did.

We could have survived in a world without butterflies that flit,

Gems that sparkle,

Waterfalls that roar,

Minds that imagine—

but we don’t have to.

Thank You.

  1. Oh Abby, this is lovely. It makes me so thankful for the little things in life that we often take for granted and hardly think about.

    1. Thanks so much, Sarah. Yes, I’m trying to learn not to take anything for granted. Recording it in writing helps with that.
