A Glimpse of Starlight

As Valentine’s Day came and went, I thought of this quote by Oswald Chambers about romance:

Get into the habit of saying, “Speak, Lord,” and life will become a romance. 

I asked myself, “Will you open yourself to Him this week or stumble along the path of your own choosing?”.  It’s a tough question, but it’s one that needs to be asked—and answered.  Here are more questions to challenge you as you face the week ahead.

Speaking the Truth in times of universal deceit is a revolutionary act.  

Will you be revolutionary this week?

Kindness is the ability to love people more than they deserve. 

Will you be kind this week?

Those who have the courage to carry the flame of truth without flinching will always be consumed by fire, whether it is ignited by their enemies through lies, jealousy, hatred, or fear, or by their own passion as their hearts are set ablaze and they burn in sorrow as others fail to heed their calls. 

Will you let yourself be consumed by fire this week?

[Doing hard things] is never a matter of arriving; it is a constant battle for growth. 

Will you keep battling this week?

It is much easier for me to imagine a praying murder, a praying prostitute, than a vain person praying.  Nothing is so at odds with prayer as vanity. 

Will you discard your vanity this week?

“Those who take lightly promises the make to those they love are people who find little losing satisfaction in life.” 

Will you keep your promises this week?

“… you do not fail in obedience through lack of love, but have lost love because you never attempted obedience.” 

Will you attempt obedience this week?

Your job doesn’t have to be holy, but you must always be holy in your job. 

May we all be holy in the jobs this week brings.
