NaNo Update #2

typing

Well, there’s eleven days and less than 17K to go.  I’m a bit ahead due to a huge writing on session, when I wrote almost 4K.  I also wrote the best scene of my novel so far, on Monday night.  I was tired and not really thinking, and all of a sudden this perfect scene spilled from my fingertips.  And you say God doesn’t care about writing?

Anyway, I’m over half way done word-wise, but I’m not sure about the plot.  I still feel like there’s so much more than seems to happen, and I’m not sure how long it’ll take to wrap everything up.  My plan is to keep writing as hard as I can till the end of November, even if I write more than 50K.  I’m just hoping to get as close to finishing as possible by Dec. 1st.  Then, if there’s still more to write, I’ll do it over Christmas break.  I know, sounds good, right?  Of course, life has a way of turning my plans upside-down, so we’ll see!  The key is to just write whenever you have the chance, I suppose.

Other than that, I feel bad for my poor characters.   I just realized I’m going to have kill one of them, which sounds really cruel, but you writers know how it goes.  It’s necessary, but heart-breaking, too.

So how ’bout you?  Are things coming along nicely?  Will your book’s plot be finished in the next eleven days?

  1. Nope, absolutely not. I haven’t written anything for over a week. On the other hand, I think that’s a good thing–it’s helped me to step back from my novel and actually like it because before, I really didn’t like either the plot or the characters, and when you hate your own novel, what’s the point of writing it? Thus, I look forward to continuing it. I don’t plan to finish on time, because frankly it’s low on my list of life, but I’ll just keep writing and writing whenever I have the chance. Keep going, guys! ❤

  2. The awesome thing about my novel is that random ideas for scenes are popping up and giving more questions which need to be answered. I think I will finish my plot in the days to come, but there will be a lot of unanswered questions which I introduced while writing which I don’t have the time to sit down and figure out the answers. At least I’ll have fun figuring them out when time for editing comes. =D
